Dispatcher - Organizing Diverse Operations with Workspaces

Porter and Interpreter can now run seamlessly side by side—thanks to enhancements made to Dispatcher, the core engine powering both products.

Dispatcher now supports Workspaces—configurable environments that let teams manage their own job types, rules, users, and workflows independently, all within a single platform. Whether you’re running siloed hospital departments or integrated service operations, Workspaces help you stay organized, scale with clarity, and give every team the autonomy they deserve.

Background

The primary goal of Dispatcher 3.0 is to create a comprehensive indoor logistics management solution—one capable of handling multiple job types across a wide range of healthcare environments.

Through ongoing conversations with hospitals, we’ve identified the core challenge: designing a system that is dynamic and flexible enough to meet the distinct needs of both individual hospitals and large-scale service providers.

In individual hospitals, logistics tasks are typically managed by separate departments, each responsible for specific workflows. For example, patient transportation might be handled by a dedicated porter team, while interpretation services are managed by customer service. These departments operate independently, with separate job types, personnel, and performance metrics—often with minimal overlap.

In contrast, service providers are usually responsible for a broad range of tasks spanning multiple operations within a hospital. These can include everything from patient transport to essential logistics—such as food, linen, equipment, medicine, and supplies—as well as facility-related roles like housekeeping or maintenance technicians. Rather than splitting these responsibilities across departments, service providers often consolidate them under a unified team and centralized management.

Introducing Workspaces

Workspaces are configurable environments within Dispatcher that allow each team to operate independently—while still running on a shared platform.

Each Workspace can be tailored with:

Custom job types

Role-specific user access

Dedicated rules and workflows

Separated performance dashboard

This means multiple teams—or even multiple clients—can use Dispatcher simultaneously, without interfering with one another.

What This Enables

Workspaces allow hospitals and service providers to:

1

Clearly separate workflows across departments or service lines

2

Empower teams with the autonomy to manage their own jobs, forms, and users

3

Scale the system without adding complexity or confusion

4

Support both siloed and unified operating models

Whether you’re adding more departments in a hospital or expanding services as a provider, Dispatcher remains clean, modular, and scalable.

How It Works in Practice

Department-Based Operations

Many hospitals operate in silos. For example, a patient transport team and an interpretation team might run entirely separate workflows with different agents, supervisors, and performance metrics. With Workspaces, each of these teams can have its own dedicated space—configured to match its responsibilities.

Integrated Service Providers

In service provider models, a shared workforce often handles multiple job types across a range of tasks. These teams rely on centralized coordination and multi-skilled agents.

With a shared Workspace setup, job creation, assignment, and performance tracking are streamlined across all service categories. If new service lines are added later—like facilities or security—a new Workspace can be introduced, allowing growth without operational disruption.

A Closing Note

At Mutrack, we build tools that reflect how people really work—complex, layered, and adaptive.

Workspaces bring structure without restriction. They let teams move fast without stepping on each other’s toes, and they make Dispatcher a more powerful, scalable, and human-centered platform.

Because clarity isn’t just a feature—it’s a foundation.

We'd love to show you what Workspaces can do.

Let us take you through how Dispatcher adapts to different teams, job types, and workflows—whether you’re managing one department or running a full-service operation. A short demo could change how you think about hospital logistics.
